June 2022 - December 2022
For six months, I carried this 6”x6” spiral bound art journal with me almost everywhere I went: work, outings with friends, school, long car rides, plane rides, layovers, beach trips, and more. Within it I wrote my creative ideas, inspirations, frustrations, achievements, goals, and anxieties that I experienced along the way.
I treated it like a scrapbook by taping in plane tickets, name tags, micro seashells, found items, hair, flowers, business cards, and scrap prints. My own blood is smeared and dripped within it.
I found inspiration from things like street names, the rolling green fields of Iowa in July, anxiety attacks, my peers, pretty candy packaging, and my own life experiences.
I chose to include only 60 out of 122 pages for the soul fact that some of it is still too intimate for now: some conversations (both negative and positive) with people in my life, private desires, unused art ideas, and (frankly) cringy doodles.
It’s not meant to be beautiful. It’s meant to be off-putting, childish, chaotic, gross, and hard to read, while also being vulnerable and transparent.
Phone numbers, some unused art ideas, and names have been blurred for privacy.
